Under the administrative direction of the Chief Administrator and the Board of Supervisors, the incumbent directs and supervises the administrative, transportation planning, engineering, and the overall operational functions of the County's Department of Public Works. This is a department head position; responsible for fiscal management including preparing and administering the annual department budget, as well as monitoring and approving budget expenditures. The incumbent formulates and implements department organizational structure, policies, procedures, plans and goals.
Requires a valid California driver’s license. Requires registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers. Possession of a Land Surveyor License issued by the California State Board Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers is desirable
Additional Salary Information: The Director of Public Works is an at-will contract position. The salary range for this position is $122,319 - $148,680 annually. The County also offers an excellent benefit package including:
Approximately 80% of the premium for a medical, dental, and vision plan is paid by the County. The current employee rate, as of January 2020, is $177/mo. The plan covers the employee and all eligible family members. An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is provided to all employees and employees' family members at no cost.
A $30,000 life insurance plan for the employee is included in the insurance package. Additional voluntary supplemental life insurance plans are also available at group rates.
CalPERS - Classic Members: 2% at 55 | CalPERS - PEPRA Members: 2%at 62
A 457 deferred compensation retirement savings plan is available to employees with a contribution match of up to $100/mo. from the County.
20 hours of Personal Time Off (PTO) per month & 40 hours of Management Leave per year.
