Under limited supervision, is responsible for providing engineering support including: electric system calculations, energy efficiency audits, power quality, metering, and assistance with report preparation.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct power quality investigations, install and operate power quality monitoring equipment, evaluate customer power quality problems and recommend solutions.
Provide metering support, including programming, testing, and maintenance.
Conduct and evaluate energy/efficiency surveys of industrial and commercial customer facilities and prepare professional quality survey reports outlining specific opportunities for increasing energy utilization efficiency.
Create reports to document engineering activities as necessary.
Coordinate and manage the efforts of outside consultants and contract personnel hired to support Engineering and Energy Services activities.
Monitor developing technologies, and make recommendations to senior staff as to the potential benefits and opportunities.
Other duties as assigned.
This position generally requires a BS in engineering with 5 to 8 years of electric utility experience with expanding responsibility. A combination of education and demonstrated related work experience can be substituted for degree. Proficiency with MS Word and Excel mandatory. Prefer experience with Milsoft, PMI provision, ASPEN, Metermate.
Must have a thorough knowledge of electric distribution design methods and practices, and able to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings, codes, and related manuals. This position requires knowledge and skill in drafting electric plans and work orders.
The person in this position must be able to communicate effectively with member employees, member customers, engineers, and construction crews.
This position may require overnight travel within the state of Georgia.
