(SME) has a new full-time position for a Geotechnical Engineer (Mid-Level) at our headquarters in Cumberland, Maine. As a multidisciplinary engineering firm, SME provides comprehensive planning, design, and construction oversight services. The Geotechnical Engineer participates in a diverse and dynamic portfolio of projects, such as solid waste disposal facility design, commercial site development, and riverine mitigation. Because there is no “typical” project at SME, the Geotechnical Engineer has the opportunity to work on a wide variety of assignments and real-world challenges. Many of SME’s projects involve innovative designs for environmentally sensitive areas. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of organizational skills that are well suited to keeping tasks on schedule and on budget. Because the Geotechnical Engineer works closely with SME’s multidisciplinary staff and frequently interacts directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and the public, strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal) are also important. Additional Salary Information: SME offers an excellent compensation and benefits package. The company pays 100 percent of Medical, Life, and Long-Term and Short-Term Disability insurance, and annually contributes to each employee’s Health Savings Account. We provide paid vacation, holiday, and sick time. SME’s retirement plan includes three components: a generous 401k plan; profit sharing; and a non-discretionary 3% of gross pay contribution. There are year-end bonuses for all employees.
