We are seeking an individual with previous Fire Alarm Design and drafting capabilities in AutoCAD for a full-time designer position. This person would have a thorough understanding of NFPA 72 and the main principles of fire alarm design. Our desired candidate would have at least 5 years of experience in the fire alarm industry and a NICET level III certification. This person must have good computer skills and have a good working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office. Additional experience with graphic editing and publishing software a plus.
This person will be responsible for the creation of fire alarm system designs and the accompanying prints and submittals needed for obtaining installation permits and guiding installation crews. Understanding programming concepts and having past training from manufacturers is a plus. There are state licenses, which you will be required to pass in the expected timeframes. Any current Ohio certifications would be a huge plus.
Site surveys at a customer’s site will be required on occasion. Dealing directly with building, fire, and insurance authorities is expected. Support for Silco’s sales staff will also be expected. Some additional administrative responsibilities will be required.

Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
High school diploma or GED with 5 years experience in the fire alarm industry
A reliable personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement program available for approved business mileage outside of one’s normal commute)
Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report
Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Ability to read blueprints
Additional Salary Information: Starting compensation will vary based on prior experience and current skill level and certifications. Silco has annual compensation raises based on merit.
