This SAMHSA-funded project seeks to prevent the onset and reduce the progression of substance use among youth living in the South Bronx. Additionally, this project provides youth and their families with training and education about HIV and other negative sexual and reproductive health consequences.
Recruiters/ Research Assistants will be responsible for canvassing, recruitment, screening, navigation, data collection, and more.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
Canvass (in courtyards, lobbies, door-to-door) to introduce families to the project
Recruit and build relationships with families in the South Bronx who live in NYCHA public housing
Remotely screen youth for substance misuse and sexual risk behavior
Lead parenting workshops on substance use, underage drinking, and sexual risk behavior
Lead opioid overdose response trainings and deliver Naloxone kits
Collect and enter data
Assist with additional research activities as they arise
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $18.00 per hour
Qualifications for Position:
Experience with recruitment/canvassing preferred
Bronx residency and/or familiarity is preferred
Flexible part-time schedule (including weekends) is preferred
Cultural competence working with Latino and Black communities is required
Skills and Knowledge:
Bilingual (English and Spanish, full professional proficiency) required
Strong communication and rapport-building skills
Excellent organizational and management skills
Experience: Research: 1 Year (Preferred)
Education: Associates (Preferred)
