Required Qualifications: As per Civil Service standards and specifications. Must be able to move heavy objects. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid Class B NYS Commercial Driver's License (CDL). In addition, must participate in the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (drug and alcohol testing) as required; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Brief Description of Duties: The Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO) will sort, process and deliver mail and packages and efficiently and effectively to serve the University community. The MVO will be responsible for operating vehicles with various deliveries including mail, packages, heavy loads and equipment to be delivered to both on and off campus locations.
Sort and deliver incoming mail and intra campus mail.
Pick up of archive boxes from departments for storage in archive warehouse.
Assist faculty, staff and students with problems and questions in a customer service function.
Operate a motor vehicle safely and cautiously.
Required to safely operate all mechanical equipment to include; fork lifts, electric pallet, jacks, lift gates etc.
Load and unload truck to make deliveries of heavy and regular freight, mail and packages to various campus departments and stockrooms, on and off campus.
Process and record purchase order and credit card deliveries.
Maintain records of all incoming and outgoing accountable mail.
Responsible for vehicle and equipment inspection for safety.
Maintains routine maintenance of vehicles operated to insure proper delivery of mail/packages. Must report any problems and malfunctions to supervisor.
Other duties assigned as specified by the Supervisor/Manager.
Special Notes : This is a full-time position,40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Mandatory rehire roster candidates have preference.
