SUMMARY We are currently working with a manufacturer of custom engineered products to identify an Estimator / Project Manager to join their team of just under 100 employees. This company is a privately held business that offers a laid back, family oriented, highly customer and employee focused environment with very little turnover. This position is open due to a promotion within the company.
The Estimator / Project Manager will be responsible for interacting with customers to perform inside sales and estimator activities, as well as project management of projects from start to finish. This is a technical role that requires an individual who can read blueprints, understands steel fabrication, and has at least a general knowledge of welding processes, machining, and equipment. Equally important is the personality and people orientation to work with customers, in fast paced environment that requires multitasking and the ability to be self-directed in an entrepreneurial environment.
POSITION • Introduce new and existing corporate products or services to established and potential clients. • Communicate with customers daily to request orders and provide quotations and lead times by fax telephone, and/or email. • Work collaboratively with the Outside Sales Team, Operations Manager, Drafting Department, and outside vendors/service providers to prioritize, coordinate and schedule customer needs and requirements. • Collect and analyze data to estimate the cost, size, materials, nature, and duration of a potential project by interpreting prints, specifications, and customer requirements. • Emphasize service or product features and benefits, discussing credit terms, quoting prices and preparing sales order forms. • Coordinate with all related departments for order status, ensuring the delivery commitments are met. • Process cancellations or changes in sales orders and communicating the changes to the related departments. • Capture accurate and complete information in ERP system (Job Boss) for customer relationship management. • Monitor quality standards and specification requirements and communicate any discrepancies or issues related to jobs that impact quality, scheduling and/or delivery. • Communicate customer feedback and suggestions for enhancing efficiency, quality, safety, and continuous improvement. • Maintain and expand the database of customers and prospects of the organization.
BASE REQUIREMENTS • 2+ years of experience in inside sales / estimating. • Prior experience in fabrication or steel service center. • Ability to read blueprints. • Drafting experience is desirable, but not required. • College coursework or an Associates in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Drafting, or Engineering disciplines is of value but not required. • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
