Job Purpose * Build and lead the Project Management (PM) department at the Sandoz U.S. office (Princeton, NJ). Develop and retain top PM talent. Ensure collaboration among group and across other PM groups in Sandoz Small Molecules PM network. * Act as a point of initial escalation for the PM team for individual project risks and issues. Facilitate formal governance communications and escalation. * Ensure health of projects within the US small molecules pipeline during the project execution phase. Anticipate and respond to trends in project execution that impact pipeline health. Monitor overall cost and timeline of projects as an indicator of health. * Collaborate with pipeline stakeholders and business partners to increase probability of success. Maintain effective working relationships with cross-functional partners. Cross-functional partners include Business Development and Licensing (BD&L), Product Development (PD) / Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T), Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Medical Affairs, Intellectual Property. Partners are located globally and locally. * Support the overall business strategy by focusing on Sandoz's growth culture and an emerging U.S. pipeline (aligned w/ biosimilars pipeline): Contribute to evaluation of new project selections. Identify likelihood that projects fit the organization's strategies and capabilities, with projects being sourced from both, internal and external development groups. * Take ownership in pioneering the digitalizing of development with the main focus on enhancing the core with Data Management platforms by implementing and rolling out Sandoz's new single data source (system) for Portfolio and Project Management. * Participate in global PM leadership team. Collaborate across multi-site PM network for internal and external project execution by direct interaction with other PM teams. Major Accountabilities 1. Oversees the Project & Program Management Leadership * Recruit and hire professional, highly skilled PM staff as required; Establish and lead robust PM team, incl. to strengthen their skills, capabilities and overall professional growth in the company. * Actively contribute in the establishment of robust leadership and project teams; train and assist project teams in issue escalations and project governance; * Develop and cultivate relationships with local and global Development Leadership, as well as all interfaces within the organization (incl. Manufacturing, Supply, Portfolio, Commercial etc.); * Navigate matrixed organization and resolve conflicts proactively. 2. Accountable for the Projects (evaluation, planning, execution and reporting) * Closely collaborate with Global Sandoz functions on evaluation, selection, and allocation of internal and externally sourced projects * Drive due diligence evaluation for potential US BD&L deals. Prepare cross-functional assessment (especially Development related) and present findings to U.S. leadership for deal decision. * Coordinate, monitor and track active projects for the U.S. scope (BD&L and in-house) from allocation through FDA approval, also incl. the responsibility to have deficiency letters timely and appropriately answered, as well as ensuring the alignment of project strategies/achievements with U.S. program and portfolio strategies. * Drive the preparation and management of project timelines, budgets, capacity plans and priorities (U.S. scope), incl. challenge project schedules with PMs; ensure management of timelines through critical path analysis.
