The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Recruitment Center Recruitment Specialist will support the work of CTSI’s Recruitment Center functions. The Recruitment Center aims to improve research participant recruitment and retention infrastructure at the University of Minnesota through collaborative solutions and enhanced support to study teams using participant-focused approaches. The Recruitment Specialist will participate in the development of recruitment strategies, best practices, tools and services to support clinical researchers across the institution in meeting their enrollment goals. The Specialist will provide support that contributes to ethical conduct of clinical trials, promotion of diversity in research studies, and is in compliance with GCPs, federal regulations, and University and clinical partner policies and procedures.
Recruitment planning, consultations and feasibility assessment for University of Minnesota researchers (40%) â— Provide consultations to help study teams develop and implement a comprehensive tailored recruitment strategies to most effectively enroll and retain research participants â— Engage key partners on research consultations (Community Engagement, M Health Fairview, Informatics, etc.) â— Provide objective critical review of the recruitment plan with feedback, recommendations and specific language â— Educate researchers on subject recruitment best practices and associated processes â— Create recruitment materials and templates (i.e. flyers and study cards) that can be shared with research teams â— Attend feasibility committee meetings and actively participate in assessment of research study recruitment and retention strategies â— Promotion of consultation services to the research community. â— Responsible for collecting data as identified in the evaluation plan for consultations with the goal being regular review of feedback and immediate incorporation of this feedback into consults. â— Provide research & recruitment education for University & clinic audiences â— Assist investigators who are interested in using the CTSA Network’s Recruitment Innovation Center (RIC) by making the appropriate resource connections â— Have an awareness and understanding of cohort identification tools that facilitate recruitment planning (i.e. i2b2 and TriNetX). Assist with basic cohort identification queries and connect research teams with BPIC for more advanced requests.
Recruitment Program Support (30%) â— Contribute to the development and delivery of recruitment and retention presentations, materials, templates and resources â— Track support and compile metrics for quarterly reports, annual progress reports, meetings, etc. â— Maintain metrics data and provide reporting as required (monthly/quarterly, etc) â— Collaborate with the CSC Liaison on various initiatives to increase research awareness in the Clinics and Surgery Center and serve as a backup to the CSC Liaison. â— Identify and lead opportunities for research awareness and system development to increase participant recruitment throughout the systems (CSC, UMMC, Community Clinics, etc.). Identify and track metrics to demonstrate success and impact. â— Lead conversations and work alongside clinical partners to build research recruitment capabilities into technology systems: e.g., Epic, MyChart â— Assist with study card & digital media initiatives to include: expansion of study card/information slides/video story inventory, promotion of tools to investigators, and compiling usage metrics & investigating trends â— Participate in the strategic planning and implementation of various awareness and recruitment activities in community settings (i.e. State Fair). Identify and collect various metrics to demonstrate impact. â— Participate in the recruitment working group and help move projects forward. â— Identify barriers and challenges to recruitment and understand recruitment best practices (i.e. engaging stakeholders, social media, etc).
Research recruitment and engagement study tool support (20%) â— Support activities and liaison for StudyFinder, ResearchMatch and/or other tools developed that support University infrastructure for participant recruitment. â— Assist in monitoring the day-to-day activities of recruitment tools including: the statewide health research study website, StudyFinder and Research Match â— Attend regular meetings and work with teams to improve existing tools â— Develop recruitment/retention tools, templates, and resources to be used with study teams.
Community Engagement (10%) â— This position will participate in various initiatives to enhance recruitment efforts within the institution and with clinical partners to increase awareness of clinical research opportunities for potential participants, providers and the community. â— Participate in the collaboration between the recruitment center, Community Engagement to Advance Research and Community Health (CEARCH) core, and others on the strategic development of community-engaged recruitment, education, and awareness plans for specific communities and conditions. â— Participate in targeted community outreach and engagement initiatives to improve research awareness and promote community-centered recruitment as well as enhance community-University relationships and communications. â— Incorporate feedback from community groups into initiatives, materials and tools. â— Seek out, coordinate, and attend community events such as neighborhood events and other community gatherings, to promote research awareness and cultivate positive University relationships.

Required Qualifications â— BA/BS in a related field with at least 4 years of overall experience or an advanced degree in a related field with 2 years of overall experience, which includes a minimum of 2 years of health research experience, or a combination of related education and related experience totaling at least 8 years. â— Experience engaging community members or groups â— Previous experience recruiting research participants for health research studies â— Strong organizational skills and time management â— Excellent written and oral communication skills â— Skilled in use of Google and Microsoft applications â— Strong organization skills and flexibility to multitask, meet project deadlines, and respond timely to issues. â— Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team â— Dependable, resourceful, and willing to learn new things
Preferred Qualifications â— Experience working with a variety of health-related community organizations and healthcare provider organizations â— Skilled in graphic design and use of marketing and editing tools (i.e. photoshop)
