Yazoo Valley Electric is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Lineman.
Job Description Summary: Provides reliable and continuous service by applying the specialized technical skills necessary for the construction, operation and maintenance of a reliable electric system. This position forms a regular progression of training and experience, each step being accumulative of all previous steps. Previous experience and responsibilities of a Groundman or in a related position is necessary with the ability to work effectively on a pole.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and technical courses leading to lineman certification. Previous experience as a ground man desirable. Each step of the progression requires successful completion of Yazoo Valley's line apprenticeship, including completion of written tests, or similar program; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be familiar with RUS Material Specifications, the National Electrical Safety Code and Yazoo Valley Service Rules and Regulations.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical manuals, maps, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and respond to questions from employees, members and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A valid Mississippi Class A CDL is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Working Conditions: Must be available for On Call Rotation. Night, weekend, Sunday and Holiday work is required.
