The Nurse Practitioner will provide clinical care to eligible students and collaborate with outreach personnel for educational programming.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assesses, diagnoses, educates, and treats eligible students within the scope of clinical practice for a nurse practitioner, within PA State Code guidelines, and with appropriate autonomy;
Documents patient care, orders diagnostic testing, monitors laboratory testing results, and utilizes prescribing authority within the Electronic Health Record and other contingent electronic systems pertinent to the provision of patient care.
Utilizes clinical judgment skills to determine need to refer patients to the collaborative physician, specialist, or an emergency-based care facility.
Collaborates closely with the physician and health services director to advise nursing, business, and clinical staff relative to policy formation, process and workflow revision including nurse triage, laboratory quality control, and ongoing clinical education.
Provides guidance and direction to RNs and MAs in the clinical setting.
Participates in outreach programming to students with the Health Services Wellbeing Outreach Coordinator.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
CRNP certification PA RN Licensure BLS/CPR or ACLS 3 years of related professional experience
Alternately, the successful candidate will possess any equivalent combination or training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Proven experience in diagnosis and treatment of common acute illnesses.
Experience in management of chronic conditions.
Experience diagnosing and treating mental health and behavioral disorders.
Experience with basic outpatient/in-office procedures such as suturing, incision & drainage, lesion removal, and other simple procedures requiring local anesthesia.
Experience with pelvic exams (GYN) and GU along with sexual health.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
