As part of the Learning Design and Technology (LDT) team within the Teaching and Learning Hub, the Senior Instructional Technology Specialist and Project Manager will play a vital role in leading projects to incorporate technology into teaching and learning at the GSB. LDT designs, develops, and supports solutions to provide meaningful, equitable, and inclusive learning, increased student engagement, and a smooth instructional experience. The team works on academic programs (MBA, MSx, PhD), as well as Executive Education and other public-facing programs.
As a senior instructional technologist, you will apply instructional design methodologies to provide expertise and support in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. You will work closely with faculty, learning experience designers, other instructional technologists, software developers, and the Associate Director of Teaching and Learning Programs at the GSB's Knight Management Center. You will help foster the school's world-class learning by promoting the signature GSB learning experience and helping faculty excel in the classroom.
The successful candidate will be excited to collaborate with other team members in projects and consultations that support faculty in their teaching. In addition to demonstrating effectiveness in assessing educational technology needs and creative problem solving, you have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. You are flexible with projects and willing to pivot if needs shift unexpectedly or with time.
Please Note: This position requires regular, on-site work at the Stanford GSB campus, but a full-time on-campus presence is not required for this role.
Your primary responsibilities include:
Provide departmental leadership for using technology in teaching, learning, community building and/or research. Manage or provide assistance in the direct integration of technology into courses and programs.
Lead the development of resources, seminars, or workshops to disseminate information about how to use learning technologies effectively.
Actively champion and support the use of online teaching and learning tools by developing and implementing resources that assist with adoption and disseminate knowledge throughout the program or school.
Partner with the Learning Platform Administrator and Technologist to maintain expert working knowledge of all learning technologies used at the GSB, support technology administration, and stay abreast of platform developments and roadmaps.
Initiate and lead projects to develop and implement innovative uses of technology for teaching, student learning and/or community building. Act as a project manager on select course development projects and teaching and learning initiatives.
Consult with learning designers, faculty, faculty support, and program staff in selecting and implementing technology into courses and programs.
Provide expertise and support in applying instructional design methodologies to the development, implementation, and evaluation of face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.
Identify stakeholders and understand user requirements in order to evaluate, develop, and adapt learning technology software solutions.
Stay abreast of educational technology research and practices and serve as a spokesperson and advocate for their use.
Lead complex academic technology projects with wide impact at the university. Lead teams in designing tools or applications to solve learning, curricular, and program needs.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:
An advanced degree plus seven years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Expertise in utilizing technology to enhance teaching and learning.
Expert knowledge of learning management systems and various classroom and online learning technologies.
Ability to logically define and solve problems with technical applications.
Ability to manage projects to plan, design, develop and evaluate engaging multimedia learning/training objects.
Experience planning and implementing project activities such as gathering requirements, identifying and defining deliverables, and establishing timelines, priorities and milestones to ensure successful progression of the projects.
Excellent teaching, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with members of the academic community; demonstrated experience working in an environment with colleagues of diverse backgrounds and customs.
Familiarity with instructional design methodologies, pedagogical issues and best practices for classroom, online and hybrid learning.
Excellent time management and project management skills. Ability to manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks and use good judgment in providing services based on goals.
Experience developing and delivering technical training to a non-technical audience.
Excellent customer service skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with a diverse audience of faculty, staff and students.
In addition, our preferred requirements include:
Master's degree or higher in education, curriculum and instruction, learning technologies or related fields.
Higher education or online education experience.
Classroom teaching experience.
Technical expertise including knowledge of Macintosh and Windows environments, html and CSS.
Experience designing and writing learning content for in-person and/or online delivery modes.
