Rate of Pay: $43.68 per hour
General Responsibilities: Assure high quality, efficient, economical, convenient medical care at UMD Health Services
Medical Care: (85%) A. Participate in providing primary medical care services • Perform and document health histories and physical examinations • Diagnose and treat common, acute illnesses, and injuries such as URI, UTI, STDs, minor trauma, common dermatologic problems, abdominal complaints , headaches , as well as mental health issues such as depression and anxiety in coordination with counseling staff. • Provide appropriate counseling to meet health needs • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests • Provide appropriate medical screening exam to detem1ine whether a patient has an emergency medical condition • Formulate treatment plan and prognoses • Manage the patients' care and prescribe medications as defined in the written practice agreement and as delegated by the supervising physician. • Write prescriptions as needed in accordance with the MN Board of Nursing guidelines. • Comply with documentation requirements in electronic medical record, patient portal, telehealth and other electronic and non electronic means as necessary • Manage walk-in patients/telephone calls • Arrange patient referrals to other care facilities as needed
B. Occasionally assist with RN duties • Dispense medications per protocols • Give immunizations, IM injections if needed • Obtain throats swabs, blood and urine specimens as indicated • Order laboratory work as clinically appropriate • Assist physicians (obtain B/P, vision, temp) as needed
Contribute to "wellness" on campus (5%) • Clinic educational and outreach functions • Lead through participation in clinic/campus/university intercultural development activities
Miscellaneous/Administrative: (10%) • To assist other staff members as appropriate to work schedule • To attend clinic/staff functions (staff meetings, retreats, in-services • Abide by the Health Services Expectations for Professional Behavior • Maintain patient confidentiality per HS and University policy • Maintain a polite and respectful attitude toward all students and staff
• Meet all on-going requirements for professional licensure and certification • To perform other work related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications: BA/BS degree plus at least six years of experience, or an advanced degree plus at least four years of experience, or a terminal degree plus at least one year of experience. Current licensure to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota.
Preferred: Experience in an outpatient setting with general primary care to include college health.
