The Associate Director of Laboratory Operations (ADLO), at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering is responsible for leading a diverse organization responsible for ensuring the success of Tandons research mission, laboratory safety, compliance and overall institutional goals across the schools areas of research excellence. The ADLO supports the Senior Director of Campus Planning & Technical Services and Vice Dean of Research within the Tandon School of Engineering to oversee the administrative functions and operations within Tandons research portfolio. This includes technical support for onboarding new investigators, equipment and space management (including serving as liaison for remodeling projects) and research operations financial management. The ADLO will ensure that the ties between research projects and their engineering planning and delivery are strong and trusted.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree engineering or related field in life sciences
Preferred Education: Master's Degree engineering, or related life sciences field
Required Experience: 5+ years experience managing complex research lab operations (i.e. research protocols, budgetary/financial management and oversight of AHJ guidelines and compliance codes).
Preferred Experience: 5+ years relevant experience in higher education occupation involving research with budgetary oversight
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong demonstrated organizational skills, with proven experience prioritizing work and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to take on new task efficiently and adapt to different work assignments and personalities; detail-oriented, with excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills; Excellent Windows Office experience, must be well versed in BioRAFT program; Demonstrated ability to work closely with faculty and laboratory staff, and exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and customer service skills. Leadership, decision-making at the mid-senior level management. Demonstrable capability for partnering to meet organizational mission, objectives, and initiatives.
