Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of East Campus Facilities Management, the Electrician inspects, installs, maintains, and repairs electrically powered systems and equipment including distribution systems utilizing test equipment, hand tools and testing instruments. The individual follows accepted procedures and techniques of the electrical trade. Electricians are expected to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical circuits and related electrical equipment and controls. They interact professionally and procedurally with other craft workers, vendors, and clients to coordinate and maintain workflow. The individual may be assigned to a day or swing shift and to work mandatory overtime as required. The buildings serviced range from commercial/institutional-type multi-story steel-and-concrete structures to converted residences.
The job will involve the ability to work in confined space, bending or stooping for long periods and be able to work from ladders or elevated platforms.
