Act as a working supervisor that monitors the daily operations inside of the Center for Animal Resources and Education. This role coordinates and oversees all duties assigned to the Technicians. All work must be done in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), institutional policies and guidelines, USDA, OLAW, AAALAC and OSHA regulations.
Education and Experience
Required: Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required: AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) level.
3-5 years of direct animal research experience.
Must be willing to work and contribute effectively in a team setting.
Must be an effective communicator including the ability to give constructive feedback to co-workers.
Must be able to effectively coach team members with different backgrounds.
Must have the ability to learn Brown Universityâ™s computer applications; Workday, Gmail, etc.
Must be able to use computer-based systems for managing animal census, animal receipt, animal health information and individual animal medical records.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Must have the ability to be positive, calm and patient even during a crisis.
Must be capable of working independently and monitoring the work of others.
Must be able to clearly, respectfully and timely correspond with researchers in writing and orally in a manner that is customer-focused while assuring regulatory compliance.
Must have the ability to train, coach and mentor co-workers to departmental standards.
Must attend all required training for hazards and other required Environmental Health & Safety programs.
Must be willing to work in ABSL1, ABSL 2 environment & with radiation and chemical hazards.
Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
