Our work includes urban design; planning and executing transportation enhancements, public parks and plazas, arts, and activation; a robust public safety, maintenance, and beautification program; and ensuring active community engagement. Since 2000, Midtown Alliance has leveraged millions of dollars in public and private funding to plan, design, and construct improvements in the public realm to include sidewalks, bicycle facilities, traffic signals, and other urban infrastructure. These investments have transformed Midtown's major corridors by improving safety, access, mobility, and aesthetics, all of which reinforce the district's strong urban identity.
This role is responsible for planning and executing community enhancement projects to ensure they are accomplished on time, within budget and are successful. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, tracking and reporting progress, developing budgets, identifying potential funding sources and collaborating with staff public and private partners and the Midtown community.
The position reports to the Director of Urban Design.
The planning and execution of all tasks related to creative placemaking in Midtown to activate the street-level experience and create lively places where pedestrians encounter unique points of interest and can socialize with others in a welcoming and attractive environment. These projects will reinforce a strong sense of community for the workforce, area residents, students and visitors.

Ensure that projects are advancing on schedule and within budget and coordinating with consultants as needed. This role includes the creative programming of civic spaces through a range of adaptive strategies and the execution of pilot projects.

Have exceptional project planning and implementation skills, with a “get it done” attitude and a sense of urgency. This includes scoping, quality assurance, contract/vendor management and tracking, frequent stakeholder contact and follow-up, communication and project documentation and supporting completion tasks being performed by others as needed.
Develop productive relationships with project partners: working directly with a broad range of public and private sector partners to achieve project success. This includes enlisting private partners to provide programming such as public art or outdoor activities within privately owned public spaces.
Proactively seize opportunities and overcome obstacles: This may require an incremental approach to executing projects and short-term initiatives to test feasibility and community acceptance.
Track and communicate relevant performance metrics: assessing progress against goals; identifying appropriate metrics; collecting before and after data; tracking progress in an organizational dashboard format to communicate success.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred)
PMP certification (preferred)
3-5 years experience
Hands-on experience with managing projects, with a track record of increasing responsibilities and achieving goals
A passion for the unique attributes of urban districts and appreciation of the opportunities and challenges of working in a dense urban environment
Proactive thinker & planner who thrives in fast-paced, and dynamic office environment
Demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments and practice excellent time management
Ability to engage with stakeholders at various levels & cultivate successful partnerships
