The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for operation and maintenance of the golf course. The responsibilities include: turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, personnel management, financial management, member relations, scheduling and maintenance of irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recordings, and compliance of regulatory issues.
The Golf Course Superintendent works to create an environment where staff is involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for themselves, members, guests and the property for the successful operation of the Golf Course Maintenance Department and Clubhouse Grounds Maintenance.
The Superintendent works closely with the Director of Golf on capital improvement expansion projects, as well as interaction to maximize the number of rounds of golf played by scheduling maintenance practices around member play and outings to maximize efficiency is essential.
Oversee and maintain golf grounds year-round to maintain the golf course at the highest quality possible at all times
Follows company standards for the healthy growth of the golf course grasses, trees, and other applicable plant materials
Programs for turf/grass, material and chemical maintenance, and asset management are critical to the success of this role
Works within the budget, and works with Director of Golf on future forecasting of budgets.
Responsible for maintenance of all equipment, mowers, sprayers, etc.
Responsible for hiring, training and developing all grounds/maintenance staff this includes directing and supervising subordinate employees in phases of course maintenance to include mowing, fertilizing and maintaining tees, fairways, greens, and roughs.
Ensures staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.
Superintendent is responsible for the maintenance, repair and condition of the entire playing area of the golf course.
Supervises the cleaning, painting and general repair of buildings, fences, bridges, and shelters directly affecting golf play to include the completion of general landscaping projects.
The golf course superintendent manages 3-5 employees and any seasonal hired employees. This position reports to the Director of Golf.
3-5 years’ experience as a Golf Superintendent or Assistant
Pesticide Applicators License required or able to obtain
GCSAA Member Preferred
Diplomatic team player able to foster relationships with Members, Employees, Partners and guests
Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements and recordkeeping as required by local, state and federal laws
