Transportation Demand Manager (TDM) leads Georgetown University's programs to reduce transportation related impacts in and around the campus. They oversee all aspects of TDM programs by collecting data to evaluate transportation usage, promoting alternative transportation options, and working with internal and external community leaders to communicate effects of transportation issues in the surrounding areas.
The TDM leads the development and implementation of the initiatives identified in the TDM Plan; as well as initiatives associated with multimodal transportation needs of the university community; and co-chairs the Georgetown Community Partnership's Transportation and Parking Work Group.
Work InteractionsReporting directly to the Associate Vice President, Campus and Strategic Planning, the
Transportation Demand Manager is responsible for strategic facilities planning and budgeting; developing, recommending, and implementing policies and procedures, workload management and analysis, customer support and liaison activities, and business process reengineering.
They manage the university's space-planning program; initiates, develops, and maintains the campus and facilities master plan; and lead the University's Transportation Demand Management program. They work collaboratively across organizational components and coordinate with colleagues, partners and internal and external community members as needed to achieve TDM goals; and achieve overall GU goals (e.g., related to sustainability, cost-effectiveness, employee engagement, etc.) when relevant.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in planning, public administration, or a related field
- At least 8 years of experience working in urban, transportation, or land use planning
- Demonstrated experience in program planning, coordination, and management
- Experience in promoting sustainable initiatives as it pertains to alternative transportation options
- Knowledge of commute trip reduction programs, ridesharing systems, regional initiatives, and funding opportunities
- Knowledge of team leadership methods, goal setting, and project management theories
- Knowledge and understanding of transportation issues and Washington DC transportation networks
- Knowledge of planning methodologies such as data collection and analytics, forecasting, modeling, and alternative analysis techniques
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs
- Strong skills in program coordination, planning, and implementation
- Effective written and verbal communications in presenting data, reports, and other information to a variety of internal and external stakeholders with divergent points of view
- Strong verbal, writing, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Strong commitment to reducing auto trips and promoting transportation options for faculty, staff, students, and visitors
- Ability to speak persuasively
- Ability to coordinate and work with program committees
- Ability to develop and maintain systems
