The Senior Assistant position is designed to prepare the incumbent for advancement in the golf course industry. A highly motivated individual will acquire the skills and experience needed to be a successful Golf Course Superintendent at an elite private club, and be involved in all levels of upper management:

• Chemical and fertilizer application programs
• Daily decision through the golf shop to appeal to the members needs
• Budgeting
• Basic mechanical work
• Agronomics
• Shop improvements
• And much more!!

The Senior Assistant will also be expected to provide constant feedback and input in all aspects of the operation. Our maintenance department is a cohesive team that works together, and we encourage involvement and learning. We work together to accomplish as much as possible during the 8-hour workday with the goal of maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

The Senior Assistant will be required to run the staff of 18-20 individuals daily. The staff at Persimmon is experienced and consists of:

• 9 full time employees
• 9 seasonal employees (most of them returning)
• Equipment technician (with 20 years of service)
• Assistant superintendent
• Irrigation technician

The Senior assistant will report to the Golf Course Superintendent and be the active Golf Course Superintendent in his absence.

Aside from managing the staff, the Senior Assistant will be responsible for the following:

• Spraying chemicals
• Maintaining the chemical storage and inventory
• Water management
• Applying fertilizer
• Strategy meetings
• Golf Course weekly job planning
• Building of chemical and fertilizer programs
• Budget management
• Hiring

Qualifications

• 2–4-year degree preferred
• Previous 2 years of assistant experience preferred
• Must be able to obtain a Missouri pesticide applicators license within the first 120 days of employment
• Experience with Microsoft and/or Google word processing and spreadsheet software (E.g., Microsoft Office, Google Sheets, Google Docs)
• Irrigation system computer management
• Positive attitude

• Confidence to lead an entire team
• Strong attention to detail
• Productive mindset
