Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Supervisor and Department Management, the Painter receives and completes work orders while maintaining accurate records on material and labor used; Detects needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment by following established inspection procedures; Smoothes and prepares surfaces for painting, including sanding and removing old paint; Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other fillers; Tapes, floats, finishes, and textures walls and ceilings; Removes graffiti from the interior and exterior of buildings; Repairs glass of building windows; Prepares all painted signs required by the Campus; Erects scaffolding or sets up ladder to perform tasks above ground level; and Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system (SAP) for work order processing. In addition, this position paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers, and applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects; Stains, seals, and varnishes wood surfaces; Performs maintenance roof coatings and repairs; Performs mold and paint removal; Operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures; Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures that equipment is in safe operating condition; Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.; Stores, handles and disposes of paint, stain, varnish, and other chemicals according to established procedures; Corrects unsafe
conditions in work areas and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately; and Ensures proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
