Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is one of the largest school systems in the country serving 160,000 students speaking up to 158 languages. The school district has more than 24,000 employees with an annual operating budget of $2.8 billion.  A new Superintendent, Dr. Monifa McKnight was recently appointed by the Board and serves as its executive officer and secretary-treasurer.
