The School of Dentistry is seeking a well-qualified applicant to join their HR Team as an HR Specialist. Be part of a team that is cohesive, collaborative, and supports our customers on a wide range of needs. This role will support the HR Business Partners and HR Director by providing HR transactional and administrative support, including processing a wide variety of PARs (HR transactions), new hire paperwork for faculty, and Erecruit processing. Workforce Administration
- Process HR transaction requests for compensation, HR Data/Personnel Changes, recruitment, and terminations. Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve issues as needed. Respond to missing or expired I9 and effort certification notices from Payroll/HRRIS. Maintain HR electronic files system and employee personnel files.
Recruitment
- Coordinate processes for the recruitment and on-boarding for new hires for faculty, staff, students, research fellows, GSRA's using the HR on-boarding systems Prepare internal and external job posting in eRecruit and student employment website, screen applicants, and update disposition applicants in eRecruit. Responsible for submitting job offers, background checks and employment paperwork, including utilization of MPathways and eRecruit technology and best practices, ensuring compliance with unit, College and UM HR policies and procedures.
- Coordinate new hire employment forms for faculty, GSRA, and Research fellow.
- Upload new hire files for candidates into personnel files (Perceptive Content).
Administrative Support to HR Team
- Support with Employee Engagement activities with event coordination, which includes prepare meeting agendas, logistics, and event support,and scheduling meetings. Assist HR Team with school-wide training and staff engagement initiatives.
Visitor /Volunteer Program
- Process requests for the Visitor/Volunteer program.
- Create sponsorships as needed.
- Associates Degree or equivalent education and experience.
- Five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in HR or related area
- Experience using HR management systems, and data query tools.
- Experience interpreting and implementing HR procedures.
- Proficient in HR PeopleSoft, Google mail and drive, presentation software, and business objects for ad-hoc queries.
- Demonstrated excellence in both verbal and written communication.
- Must have a track record of excellent attendance.
- Must have solid interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work with a diverse group. Flexibility, adaptability and patience will be essential in working in this team environment.
- Demonstrate tact and diplomacy in handling highly sensitive and confidential matters.
- Knowledge of School of Dentistry policies
- Professional Human Resource Certification (e.g., HRCI, SHRM certification).
- Experience in a higher education environment or experience working with bargained-for employees.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, HR, or related field.
This position has a hybrid schedule, with one to two days onsite. This is a 40-hour-per-week, Monday - Friday position with some flexibility in scheduled hours.
This position is a 1 year term limited position, with the possibility of renewal.
