This is an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) job opening.
Both qualified NP and PA applicants will be considered.

A total of one (1), 1.0 FTE Advanced Practice Professional (either NP or PA) will be hired to fill this job opening.
To provide direct cardiac specialty health care to patients and families in the acute inpatient and outpatient electrophysiology setting. Practice will be in partnership with attending EP cardiology faculty and fellows. To provide health education to patients; and to provide educational experiences for health care professionals.
The APP responsibilities will include:
- Assessing, diagnosing and treating health problems for the MWE cardiac electrophysiology patient population.
- Performing health assessments including patient history, physical examinations, diagnostic tests and appropriate interventions or referrals.
- Document patients care and progress and maintain complete and detailed patient records.
- Provide health education.
- Develop and implement patient education programs.
- Present workshops, lectures and in-service programs.
- Serve as a preceptor for APP students.
- Participate in the development of policies, procedures and protocols including standards of care.
- Participate in research projects.
NP:
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
- Current specialty certification to practice as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Acute NP.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
- Current DEA registration required
- ACLS required (separate AHA approved BLS also required unless ACLS was completed through the UMHS Simulation Center).
PA:
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Satisfactory completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
- State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
- Current DEA registration required
- ACLS required (separate AHA approved BLS also required unless ACLS was completed through the UMHS Simulation Center).

RESUME REQUIRED (for both internal & external applicants):
You must attach a complete and accurate resume to be fully considered for this position.
- 1 year of recent (within the last 5 years) APP experience with the cardiac electrophysiology patient population.
- 3 years of APP experience
- 3 years of clinical experience providing care to patients with arrhythmias, CIEDs, syncope, heart failure and acute coronary syndromes.
- Experience in Device interrogation.
- Demonstrates knowledge of adult cardiac physiology, particularly ECG interpretation.
- At least 3 years’ working full time in an Advanced Practice role in cardiac surgery or Cardiology in the last 5 years
- Specific experience as an Advanced Practice Provider caring for patients with valve disease, aortic and treating hemodynamics.
- 3 years’ experience within the last 4 years caring for the cardiac surgery or cardiology patients.
- 2 years experience within the last 5 years caring for the adult surgical population.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult cardiac physiology.Demonstrates Patient and Family oriented Care

- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational abilities.

- Demonstrated ability to anticipate the clinical care needs of complex patients.

- Demonstrated expert analytical skills and ability to prioritize assignments and manage busy work environment
- Ability to demonstrate good computer skills including computer documentation and order entry.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and experience with coordinating and managing complex, patients and providing safe hand offs to the next provider.
- Demonstrated expertise in facilitating the educational growth of others through previous clinical instructional roles.
