To grow your career at USC - MCA under general supervision and in accordance with standardized procedures, the incumbent must have 1-2 years’ experience managing patients enrolled in clinical research trials aside from routine patient routine visits such as annual physical examinations, obtains history of medical illness, treats common episodic and chronic health care problems, monitors patient progress especially when they are enrolled on research study protocols, and if needed patient family members.  They are the resource and lead for RNs, LVNs, and support staff.  Identifies and records pertinent progress of patients in the clinical research trials, updating and summarizing charts, changing orders when appropriate and notifying the responsible physician of changes in the patient’s condition. Performs diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive and health maintenance services according to the enrollment criteria of research protocol(s) under the direction and supervision of a physician(s).  Works in collaboration with other health care research team members, consulting and referring as appropriate, but retains responsibility for ongoing clinical management of patients enrolled in clinical research protocols.

Preferred Education:
• Master's degree
Minimum Experience/Knowledge:
• Five years clinical nursing experience preferred.
• Experience in both inpatient and outpatient areas preferred.
• Experience with high volume, high-risk patients preferred.

• Experience in GYN, research and clinical trials/research projects is required.
Required License/Certification:
•Valid California Registered Nursing license.
• Valid California Nurse Practitioner license.
• Valid DEA license strongly preferred.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
• ACLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association

• Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred

• Current license is required upon hire or within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date.

•Valid California Driver’s License upon hire.  Expected to drive a USC owned vehicle and pass/complete USC Vehicle and Driver Policy

Percentage of Time:  100% FTE

The position is funded by a grant or contract and maybe funded by a subsequent grant or contract.  The position is contingent upon receipt of the necessary funding from this or any subsequent grant or contract to continue employment.
