JOB DESCRIPTION
We are in search of an Assistant Superintendent who has 2-4 years of experience to assist in developing a state-of-the-art maintenance program from the ground up. We seek a professional and passionate assistant that views his/her job as a career, not “just a job”. Our maintenance program is catered to provide the most superior conditions possible. This will be a labor of love. We are developing a hand watering program to manicure the best conditions possible. We will be using a TDR 300 throughout each day to manage moisture in the greens accordingly. Sweetbay will have “tournament like conditions” daily. This property will require a keen eye for details. We’re aiming to create an environment that the members love while building a family with our staff. We want to build a family of employees that holds The Sweetbay Club in the highest of regards.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Works with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
- Supervises and assists maintenance staff in daily duties.
- Ensures that maintenance equipment is properly maintained.
- Assists in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensures costs remain within budgetary limitations.
- Keeps records of annual/monthly cultural practices.
- Follows sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
- Reconciles and provides timely coding of all invoices, payroll and other required documents.
- Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations.
- Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
- Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate and develops ongoing training programs.
- Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, associate degree (AA) or equivalent from four or two-year college or technical school; three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in agronomy/ horticulture/ plant/soil science). A Florida pesticide applicators license is required. (We will assist in obtaining license)
