The University of Pittsburgh is seeking an Assistant Manager of the William Pitt Union (WPU). The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the Manager of the William Pitt Union with the supervision and management of the daily operations of the William Pitt Union which includes the management and supervision of approximately 50 part-time student employees as well as budgetary responsibilities. The Assistant Manager assists with the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, evaluation, and scheduling of all William Pitt Union student staff. The Assistant Manager assists with administrative tasks including (but not limited to) processing payroll, managing the WPU building access system, coordinating security details for events, developing policies and procedures, along with purchasing supplies and equipment. The Assistant Manager also writes incident and activity reports for the Manager. The Assistant Manager works with the William Pitt Union Reservations Office to schedule event space, including utilization of the event scheduling system. The Assistant Manager routinely meets with customers in regard to questions, concerns, and scheduled events; assists in preparing set-up and daily WPU event schedule; assists with the management of expenditures from the WPU operating and departmental budget; and assists with the coordination of facilities work requests. The Assistant Manager works closely with Facilities Maintenance, Custodial Services, Dining Services, and University Police. The Assistant Manager assists with Division of Student Affairs and Student Life projects, programs, and events, as needed.

Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience or an Associate's degree and 7 years of experience; Combination of education and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education . Experience in hiring and training are essential. Experience with Prism-based payment processing and purchasing, budgeting, and managerial knowledge is essential. Other requirements include: excellent customer service, interpersonal and strong leadership skills; the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships; basic understanding of risk management principles and best practices for crisis management; ability to interpret and enforce policies; and ability to make life safety decisions and be the after-hours first point of contact for fire, police and emergency personnel.
