OFFICE OF STUDENT CONDUCT (BL-SETH-IUBLA)

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide administrative support to the Sexual Misconduct Team consisting of Investigators of Sexual Misconduct and an Associate Director. Investigators conduct neutral, fact-finding investigations for student cases alleging sexual misconduct, which includes sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation involving undergraduate and graduate students as outlined in IU's Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct Policy. Investigators also assist with investigations and cases for personal misconduct, academic misconduct, and organization misconduct.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Supports investigators, particularly during and after investigation meetings.
• Supports investigators and the Associate Director in those investigation meetings, and in administrative requirements, note taking, report drafting, case updates and student follow-up after the meeting.
• Regularly interacts with confidential student records and information that is highly sensitive in nature.
• Takes thorough and accurate notes during investigation meetings during which a lead investigator or hearing officer facilitates the meeting.
• Assists investigators with asking appropriate clarifying questions in a sensitive manner based on the subject matter.
• Reviews statements with individuals during investigation meetings to ensure the accuracy of the notes and information.
• Follows up with individuals to authenticate meeting notes and information.
• Prepares notes for individuals to review in case files.
• Assists investigators with preparing reports and case files used in student conduct processes.
• Manages documents and record keeping.
• Accesses database information and requests follow up information as needed.
• Updates meeting agendas, database entries and spreadsheets related to investigations and conduct cases.
• Sends and responds to emails as requested.
• Schedules meetings on behalf of sexual misconduct team members as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required

• High school diploma or GED.

Preferred

• Master's degree in student affairs, higher education administration, social work, conflict resolution, counseling, or JD.

• Ability to operate in a professional environment, and to respect and support diversity.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
