If you have applied previously, your application is active and there is no need for any further action.Executive Director, Infrastructure Services Operations (INFO SYS MGR 2)Information and Educational Technology (IET) provides the foundational and enabling infrastructure, hardware, software, and systems that provide support for institutional activities at UC Davis. These include, but are not limited to, Data Center, virtualization, system administration, IT Express central service desk, IT Service Management, Identity and Access Management, Email, Telecommunications, network, website hosting and content management, academic applications, and information security.
IET manages their organizational responsibilities guided by architectural standards and supported by the professional methodologies such as IT Service Management and Project Management. IET takes an end-to-end view of delivering the right products and services, at the right time, to our campus customers.
Under the general direction of the Associate Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS), the Executive Director of Infrastructure Services Operations is a member of the EIS senior leadership team. ResponsibilitiesThis position manages the Infrastructure Services with EIS providing leadership and direction to its units which include the Data Center, the Network Operations Center, Infrastructure Systems Management and the Windows Administration Group. This role proactively manages the EIS-Infrastructure unit's spending and implements solutions to reduce operational costs in order to create budget for innovative solutions. This includes preparing budget estimates and recommendations for procurement of services, training, and necessary technologies.
The Executive Director of Infrastructure provides direction and oversees the operations of IET on-premises and cloud-based technology infrastructure including networks, end-user computing and telephony, servers and storage, virtualization, infrastructure and network security and operating systems support. This includes direction and oversight of the design, installation and configuration, operations and maintenance of all middleware, system software, and development and operations support tools and other software platforms to support the development, quality assurance, training, and production operations of EIS enterprise systems and departmental applications. This role oversees the research and evaluation of current technology trends and industry practices to ascertain the feasibility of using such technology and practices in the UC Davis IT environment, including formulating and executing cloud services implementation and technology improvement projects in accordance with the IET cloud strategy. Implements and operates adequate security controls in collaboration with the IET Security Office to ensure compliance with information security policies.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7 years of experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams.
- 7 years of experience managing mission critical and enterprise IT systems and services.
- 5 years or more of experience providing data center, network operations and system administration services to a large customer base.
- Applied knowledge of information security controls.
- Applied knowledge of project management principles and practices.
Preferred Education/Experience - Advanced Degree in IT such as Technology and Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Science, Systems & Network Administration, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- 5 years or more of experience managing and/or supporting large and complex projects.
- 5 years or more of experience in business continuity and technology recovery processes.
- 5 years or more of experience managing enterprise vendors and service providers.
- Applied knowledge of ITIL principles and practices.
- Applied Knowledge of emerging technologies and their applications to business processes.
