The Pharmacy Operations Manager helps to coordinate all aspects of the delivery of pharmaceutical products and services within the St. Louis VA Health Care System and provides oversight of daily operations of the dispensing services. This position oversees the work of the Pharmacy staff where the supervisor has full technical authority over the work, and work which may require coordination and integration of work assignments with the other service lines. Duties to include, but not limited to: Staff Management Performs the administrative and personnel management functions relative to staff supervision Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system Observes worker's performance and conducts work performance critiques Provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance Assures that subordinates are trained and fully comply with the provisions of the safety regulations Resolves informal complaints and grievances Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary Pharmacy Operations Management Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy and coordination of comprehensive pharmacy services Serves as a backup with respect to any duties normally performed Manages in accordance with local, state and Federal laws; as well as, applicable Department of Veterans Affairs policies and procedures Responsible for developing and/or maintaining a system for drug distribution Promotes quality patient-centered health services through a seamless continuum of care. Establishes and maintains a climate that fosters excellence. Develops departmental and correlating facility policies Assures compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies Clinical Will maintain and promote high ethical, clinical and administrative standards that are carried into the decision-making process Making recommendations regarding drug therapy to physicians, dentist, and patients Ensures all staff is aware of patient's rights and provides service directed toward assuring these rights are honored and protected; this includes the assurance of patient privacy, confidentially and a safe environment in which patients receive care. Supervisory Controls Plans and manages tasks based on established Pharmacy Service and Medical Center policies and procedures Responsible for the operational status of the various aspects of pharmacy programs and will be required to make administrative decisions in instances where immediate decisions are required Delegate tasks and redirect staffing based on his/her analysis of workflow and workload needs Successfully and consistently demonstrate the exercise of independent managerial judgment Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm Position Title/Functional Statement #:Pharmacy Operations Manager/PD000000 Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
